    Abstract Poem... Word Vomit?

Post by Mercy on Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:17 pm

Spiders spin homes outside my window
    aqua beads bejewel their webs

Fall into constellations: spears piercing elephants
    lions prey on young zebra.
past millions of lights into the unknown…

    Until …

Blackness grows behind eyelids images of a young girl
arms wide towards the sea as
baby turtles poking their heads out of soft blue shells
    trudging towards the ocean

Dreaming of kids in Africa, skeletal hands reach out
    skin stretched over potbellies
dark eyes just begging for love.

    Memories scratched in my mind:
my prom dress is just a mermaid skin drying thin

Whimsical laughs caught in the atmosphere
    kissing smoke rings
    playing with fire
sparklers dancing across the night -
    our makeshift Northern Lights.

I remember winter nights as we looked skyward
bouncing in the bellies of snow trying to capture winter’s frost

    Glass bones crunch under covers
    nails carve into sunken eyes
    peeling eyelids back like Band-Aids
facing the mirror, my body screams
    WHAT. HAVE. YOU. DONE.

Florescent bulbs flash across pale skin
    skin flows over thin waistlines
red embroidery decorate white paper skin

    Revealing scars society had carved
    as the TV rings on,
you will never be good enough

I haven’t seen my face in a clear light in two years.

Try to recreate dreams Disney bestowed upon my childhood.

Stories aren't what they used to be.

So many nights hunched over my journal
    thoughts splatter across paper
plagiarizing what I have heard over afternoon coffee
because I have yet to discover the beauty of silence.

Words on my journal pages dance and swing
now I rip pages out of my journal because it’s better than tearing at skin.

I write for heartbreak, for love, for the pillow clutchers
    the dreamers, the young.

These words screaming out on this page are yours to use.

My poems are just vehicles to get me through to the early hours of morning

Pretty deep thoughts in this poem.
I always enjoy what you write. Mostly your style.
    Nicely done.

I love how this truly is word vomit made gold! You've done an amazing job! I actually started reading these as lyrics after a while.
