Slam Poem [The Dragon] NEED FEED BACK

    Gagging it down
    I wore a smug smile
    You had painted onto me.

    I did this for you.

    Only you.

    Like war paint,
    Ready for battle,
    The glowing red
    Tip of the cigarette...

    The glowing red tip,
    I remember that.

    Burning brightly,
    Ash grey stains
    Colored your clothes.

    It was mesmerizing.

    Almost as mesmerizing
    As your eyes,
    when they shimmered with amusement.

    You made me feel like
    A little baby.

    Calling me ‘Baby girl’
You only called me that when I was acting childish.

    Your smoky voice,
    Haunting me.

While I choked and almost threw up,
    You guzzled everything down,
    With ease.

Must’ve had a lot of practice,
    Eh?

    You,
    you... were a dragon.
    The dragon.

    Your smooth scales glimmered
Under the moonlight – a creature of the night –
While we danced under your perfectly carved wings.

    A pyro.

    Dangerously playing with fire
    Dancing with the devil,
In a silk red dress that hugged you tightly
    Under the black light.

    I was merely a
    Demented, one-winged
    Freak.

    You gracefully stomped,
    Crushing
    Burning
    Destroying my mental walls.

The city I built to be safe,
    I called home.
To keep me from people like you.

I had met you that night at the concert.
    I don’t remember much,

I’ll tell you what I do remember,
    I remember you.

    Taking my hand,
    Your body was smoke,
    Gracefully twisting, turning, around me.

    Your scent
    Engulfed me.

    I had always liked music.

Yet the shrieks in the car,
As we sped down the dark blue highway,
    Over powered it.

You had shown me a different tune.

Striking my broken, dusted piano keys,
And I slid my fingers across your broken guitar strings,
    We made music together.

    And it wasn’t always perfect
    But we did.
    And it was beautiful
    In my eyes.

    As we knocked
    on the drums.

    Our bodies
    Moving
    Grooving
    Becoming one with the music.

    I could feel it,
    From my core
    Moving like fog
    Across a deserted road.

    Letting our dreams
    Shatter along with the bottles
    On the concrete.

    Leaving it all behind.

Just like you had taught me to do.

    “Fuck, stop crying,
    You big baby.”

    Your words gripped me,
While I was on the side of the road,
    Blowing my brains out,

    Jack Daniels and Taco Bell,
    Surging from my belly.

    Bleeding oceans from my eyes.

    I wanted to hate you,
    I wanted to hate you
for what you had turned me into,

But I didn’t want to stop...
    So I kept going...

    That summer
    We became neon signs.

    We became
    Dragons.

    Creatures of the night.

    Burning brightly
    in the black of night.

powerful emotions...i feel like i can kinda relate to this a little bit maybe. I've done stuff for certain people in my life that just ripped me to pieces. its ok, though. there's always room to heal.
